Foursomes Reader — last updated 25 August 2026

The short version

Reader has no account, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs. Every document you add and every word it reads aloud stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, store, sell or share your personal information — because we never receive it in the first place.

What stays on your device

Everything you put into Reader lives only in the app's own storage on your iPhone:

• The documents you add, whether pasted text, an article from a link, an EPUB file, or a page you scanned.
• Your place in each document, your listening history, your playback speed, your chosen voice, and any pronunciations you have taught it.
• Any neural voices you have downloaded.

Speech is synthesised on the device. The text of your documents is never sent anywhere for that or for any other purpose.

The only two times Reader uses the network

1. When you give it a link. Reader fetches that page so it can extract the article text. The request goes directly to the website you chose. Reader attaches no identifier of you or of your device, and the address is not recorded anywhere outside your own library.

2. When you download a voice. Reader fetches the neural voice model files from Hugging Face at huggingface.co. That request carries no information about you, your library, or what you have been reading — it asks for a file, and Reader verifies the file it receives against a checksum built into the app.

There is no other network activity. No telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising, no attribution, no remote configuration.

What we collect

Nothing. There is no server to collect it to, no account to attach it to, and no analytics library in the app.

Permissions Reader asks for

Camera. Only when you choose to scan a printed page. The photograph is turned into text on your device using Apple's Vision framework. The image is not uploaded, and it is not kept after the text has been extracted.

Reader asks for no other permission.

Children

Reader collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.

Deleting your data

Settings → Storage → Remove all content erases every document and all reading progress. Deleting the app removes everything else, including any downloaded voices.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will appear both here and inside the app, and the date at the top will change.
